(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The third Cultural Dialogue between Iran and Italy was held in Rome on Tuesday.
The scholars and thinkers participating at the gathering discussed ways for countering Islamophobia and religious extremism, according to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
Issuing a statement at the end of the meeting, they called for efforts to reach a common understanding of the definition and examples of extremism and joint mechanisms to tackle the challenge.
They also stressed the need for logical analyses of the root causes of extremism and avoiding one-sided and wrong judgments about followers of certain religions.
The statement further called for benefiting from arts and cultural capacities to fight extremism.
ICRO organized the gathering in Rome in cooperation with the Tarekani Encyclopedia Foundation.
Scholars and thinkers from Iranian and Italian universities and academic centers attended the event.
Tehran had hosted the second edition of the dialogue on the role of arts in promotion of scientific and cultural exchanges.
