No foreign country can deploy forces in Caspian Sea: Iran's Zarif

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that five Caspian Sea littoral states have agreed that no foreign force can be deployed in the sea.

Talking to reporters on arrival in Moscow on Monday, he pointed to holding the Seventh Summit of Caspian Sea Littoral States’ Foreign Ministers in Moscow, some 49 expert meetings on the topic have so far been held and two-day foreign ministers’ forum will be held in Moscow to make arrangements for the Leaders’ Summit slated to be held in Astana.

Noting that good advances have been made in Caspian Seal Legal Regime Convention, Zarif said that some 12 documents were also signed in addition to the convention.

Serious talks are underway by the five countries to achieve agreement in all aspects of the convention, the top diplomat said, pointing out that agreements have been made in most of the fields, but all contents of the convention should be agreed on.

Zarif further noted that foreign ministers are to have intensive talks during the two-day meeting, as there may be no chance for talks on the sidelines of the event.
