Pakistan supreme Sunni leader slams Saudi monarchy for rumors of Mecca attack

A well-known Pakistani Sunni scholar and President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Pir Ijaz Hashmi has expressed his displeasure over spread of baseless rumors by Saudi monarchy and pro-Saudi clerics about missile attack on holy Makkah (Mecca).

(AhlulBayt News Agency)A well-known Pakistani Sunni scholar and President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Pir Ijaz Hashmi has expressed his displeasure over spread of baseless rumors by Saudi monarchy and pro-Saudi clerics about missile attack on holy Makkah (Mecca). He said no such attack occurred and no Muslims could even think of that attack by any Muslim.

“When Yemeni Houthi spokesman made it clear that Jeddah was the target and no missile as fired at Makkah, then Saudi regime, clerics and their supporters should have given the religious colour to the military and political conflict,” senior Hashmi said talking to media persons.

It is also relevant to add here that Mufti Raghib Naeemi, another Lahore-based Sunni scholar has opposed the propaganda war of Saudi regime on the issue of missile attack.

Hashmi senior said that all Sunni and Shia Muslims would defend the holy shrines of Islam in Makkah and Medina if they see any danger to these sacred cities. He lamented that innocent Yemenis were being massacred and their funeral congregations were being bombed but nobody across the world had come forward to condemn the military aggression of Yemen.

“If people of Yemen want their representative government, it is their inalienable right to elect their government on their own such as we enjoy this right to elect our government in Pakistan and nobody should deny Yemenis their due right,” he said urging that a political solution of the Yemen issue must be finalized immediately.
