A conference of Islamic scholars from different schools of thought was held in Pakistan’s Lahore with the aim to focus on promoting the teachings of Ashura for bringing unity in Ummah.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A conference of Islamic scholars from different schools of thought was held in Pakistan’s Lahore with the aim to focus on promoting the teachings of Ashura for bringing unity in Ummah.

Director of Iranian Cultural Center in Lahore Jafar Ronas was the chief guest on the conference held on the eve of the beginning of the holy month of Moharram.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of Ruet-e Halal Committee; Maulana Sayed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, the chairman of Muttahida Jamiat Ahle Hadith; Syed Aasad Abbas Naqvi; the media advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister; and Mufti Gulzar Ahmad Naeemi, the central president Jamat Ahle Haram also attended the conference.

Scholars from different Islamic sects, while explaining the philosophy of the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS), said the holy month of Muharram is a month of sorrow and grief for all Islamic sects due to the historical event of Ashura.

They called on the government to ensure full security of mourning processions and majalis in Moharram and Safar months to avoid any unpleasant incidents.

Director of Iranian Cultural Center in Lahore Jafar Ronas, expressing his views, said the great uprising of Ashura is a road map for the unity of Muslims.

Stressing on unity of Islamic sects, he said, in Ashura, much attention should be paid to human principles such as honor, dignity, freedom, and to Islamic principles, such as prophecy, the Qur'an, and tradition.

He further pointed out that human principles and commonalities, such as justice, commitment, loyalty, and freedom are among the important principles and foundations of the Ashura.

For this reason, Ashura has a unifying message both among the followers of Islam and for the followers of other religions and all human beings.

Jafar Ronas, quoting Imam Khomeini, the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said that Ashura should be considered as an event that can be instructive throughout history and overthrow the foundations of oppression and tyranny.

The other speakers expressed the profound impact of the tragic event of Karbala and the martyrdom of the holy family of the Prophet in the history of mankind.

It is worth mentioning that on the eve of Muharram, the Punjab government, as the most populous province of Pakistan, sends peace committees consisting of Islamic scholars to different cities in order to pave the way for the peaceful holding of Moharram.
