(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Holding up posters of Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim, residents from his hometown of Diraz took to the streets on Friday in a show of solidarity with the top cleric.
One of the posters displayed during the peaceful marches vowed undying support for Sheikh Qassim, wishing him good health.
Sheikh Qassim is currently receiving medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
He departed Bahrain earlier this month after spending over a year under house arrest.
The cleric, who is a central figure in Bahrain’s popular uprising, had been confined to Diraz since June 2016 when he was arbitrarily stripped of his citizenship.
