Israel shutters Palestinian radio station in WB

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The ‘Israeli' Occupation Forces [IOF] shut down and raided Palestinian radio station in al-Khalil, Al-Huriya, overnight Wednesday, due to its alleged content suspected of encouraging so-called ‘terrorist' attacks.

Al-Huriya station in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil was closed "for content inciting violence and encouraging terrorism," an army spokeswoman said without providing further details.

The Zionist army and sources at the station said on Thursday that it would be closed for six months.

A source at the station said technical equipment had been confiscated during a raid on the station's offices.

In another raid last month, the IOF raided a Ramallah-based media company, PalMedia over alleged suspicions of the distribution of propaganda materials.

The popular radio station, whose name means freedom in Arabic, has been shut down on at least three other occasions, the most recent being in 2015.

The ‘Israeli' army regularly acts against media.
