(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to the information center of the Supreme Leader’s Office, the meeting was held at Imam Khomeini Husseiniyeh in Tehran in the presence of Persian language experts, poets, literati and cultural activists as well as a number of Persian-speaking poets from Afghanistan, Tajikistan and India.
In an address, the Supreme Leader underscored the massive, constant progress in Persian poetry in recent years, and said, “Poetry is one of the greatest forms of art and poetry artists bear a heavy responsibility regarding the country’s issues as well as the historical and inspiring Islamic Revolution movement; they should employ the never-ceasing art at the service of heavy duties.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further named human emotions, anguish, and wisdom as the three component parts of poetry, and added that airing poetic, romantic emotions and crying life's anguishes are two aspects of poetry; however, the excess of these aspects should not lead to wisdom and thought being overlooked in poetry.
He further underlined the necessity of imbedding Islamic teachings, wise thinking and educational concepts in poems.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei asserted that poets are responsible regarding social events, and added, “Today the Iranian nation’s historic movement is inspiring for massive human communities, and resistance to international hegemonic and arrogant powers and the issue of the Islamic Revolution should be reflected in compositions of poets.“
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stated that the jihad of the 8-year Sacred Defense, jihad of constructing the Islamic society, jihad in revising the lifestyle, the jihad of bolstering national integrity and issues like the Islamic Awakening and Palestine are other matters which should be reflected in poetry works.
The Leader finalized his address highlighting attention to children and adolescents in poems.
Prior to the Leader’s address, a number of poets rehearsed their pieces which were composed in issues like ethics, religion, politics, the Islamic Revolution and society.
At the beginning of the meeting, the poets talked to the Supreme Leader in a cozy atmosphere.
