(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "Everyone should try to hold a spirited election with the participation of all people because the Islamic Republic's might and strength has always come from public presence and support since the onset of the victory of the Islamic Revolution," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing the Presiding Board and members of the parliament in Tehran on Wednesday.
He described massive participation of the people in the June presidential election as a guarantee for the country's immunity, might and security and a dam against enemies' threats, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is a deeply-rooted system and its roots are people and their integrated support."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that people's support for the Islamic Republic is a source of pride and blessing for the country, the political system and the people, and said therefore, the election which is the manifestation of people's presence should be held spiritedly.
In relevant remarks in March, Ayatollah Khamenei laid emphasis on the crucial importance of political and economic developments in the Persian New Year, and said the Iranian people will display an epic presence in both fields this year.
He made the remarks in a televised address while extending his congratulatory message in the early minutes of the Persian calendar year of 1392 (March 21, 2013 - March 20, 2014).
Ayatollah Khamenei further called for the Iranian nation's enthusiastic and energetic participation in the country's political and economic affairs in the New Year.
The Leader pointed to the upcoming political events in the country, the June presidential election in particular, and said, "We name the year 1392 as the Year of Political Epic and Economic Epic and hope that, God willing, economic epic and political epic will be materialized by our dear people and the country's devoted authorities this year."
