(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The consignment was delivered to the Lebanese high council of humanitarian aid in Beirut in a ceremony attended by Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi on Monday.
The cargo was the second of its kind dispatched by Iran to the Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and included foodstuff, blankets, detergents, and the other basic commodities needed by 20,000 Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in Lebanon.
The Islamic Republic sent its first humanitarian aid consignment to the Syrian and Palestinian refugees residing in different part of Lebanon last month.
The first cargo included 10,000 packs of canned food, tents, and other basic commodities.
Addressing the ceremony, Roknabadi voiced Iran's firm support for the Syrian nation and government in their efforts to restore security and stability and work out a political solution to the crisis in their country.
Last month, a senior Lebanese legislator thanked Iran for its aid and assistance to the Syrian refugees who have fled their country due to the current crisis.
Speaking in a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Beirut in late January, Maronite Christian member of the March 14 coalition said, "Helping the Syrian refugees is a humanitarian responsibility and we thank the Islamic Republic of Iran for its assistances and aids in this regard."
Syria has been experiencing unrest since 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.
The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
