(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The 16-year-old was injured at the al-Aqsa compound when a group of Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian protesters, using stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the crowd there.
The violence erupted after Friday prayers at the compound containing the Dome of Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam.
The video posted on the YouTube website shows a boy being dragged by Israeli soldiers. As the boy screams “khalas,” the Arabic word for “enough” or “stop,” the soldiers throw him to the ground. One soldier punches the boy in the side of the head, smashing his head into the stone floor.
The teenager is now recovering in hospital.
Palestinian children in Jerusalem are frequently targeted by Israeli occupation forces. Some 700 are arrested and detained annually in the city alone and are routinely subjected to cruel, violent and illegal abuses.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, and annexed East al-Quds, where the holy al-Aqsa Mosque is located, a move not recognized by the international community. The site has a scene of frequent clashes between Israelis and Palestinians.
On Thursday, at least nine people were arrested after Palestinian worshipers and Israeli settlers clashed inside the compound.
Palestinians want that part of the city as capital of their future state.
