(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the countries that participated in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Tehran affirmed their adherence to the principles of NAM more than ever.
In a speech at the closing session f the summit, Ahmadinejad said that these countries' participation stresses the need for joint global governance, rebuilding the international order, making a radical change in the way the world is run, and guaranteeing the participation of everyone in this process on the bases of justice, love and amity which achieve peace.
The Iranian President said that all the participating members affirmed the need to preserve the noble values of preserving human dignity, human rights, religious values, justice and morals, and that they emphasized the need to confront unilateralism and hegemony, avoid encouraging violence and conflict, and resolve disputes and challenges via dialogue and reasons.
He said that all members agreed that the NAM's success relies on unity, cooperation and fraternity and constant work based on agreement and justice, and that they stressed the need to keep a watchful eyes on the enemies of humanity who sow discord and strife in a bid to control the world.
Ahmadinejad went on to say that the NAM members affirmed the need to improve the Movement's status and improve it, saying that the summit's final documents sent a political message regarding the challenges hindering peace, security and justice.
He also announced that the next NAM Summit will be held in Venezuela.
For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said that his country welcomes holding the 17th NAM Summit in Caracas, welcoming Azerbaijan and Bangladesh who joined the NAM as new members.
In turn, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Hasina Wazed, speaking on behalf of the member countries of Asia and the Pacific, voiced support for Iran in its leadership of the NAM for the next three years.
Similarly, Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez delivered a speech on behalf of Latin America and the Caribbean in which he said that both South America and the Middle East are struggling to reorganize the UN on the basis of equality among countries.
For her part, Nigerian Foreign Minister and Chancellor Viola Onwuliri said in a speech on behalf of Africa that the Tehran summit will have important results in terms of world peace, affirming that Africa will commit to the principles and obligations of the NAM.
The 16th NAM Summit concluded its activities in Tehran on Friday evening by ratifying the final documents unanimously by the representatives of the 120 member countries.
