(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes said on Tuesday that current problems facing the world are originated in the wrong policies of the international bodies.
In an interview he called on the Non-aligned Movement member states to play their role to bring about changes in the global management.
Quayes, who is in Iran to take part in the ongoing NAM Summit of Leaders, added that concerns about the bipolar world and threat of war between the then East and West blocs prompted the founders of the NAM to establish such a major world body.
"The world ahs undergone numerous changes and experienced new challenges which indicate that the NAM's mission has not finished yet. It has more significant missions ahead," he said.
Solving the current problems requires cooperation among all members of the international community, he said, noting that big powers are not able to solve them alone.
Describing NAM as the voice of developing and newly independent countries, Quayes said that the entity can promote multilateralism across the world.
He blamed the international bodies for the current problems facing the world and said that the current economic crisis in the world indicates that the international bodies are in dire need of reforms.
He further noted that NAM Summit is an opportunity for the developing countries to get involved in solving international problems.
The Bangladeshi official also underlined Iran's role in the field.
Stating that Iran and Bangladesh as the two members of NAM and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) boast numerous capacities for developing interaction in different fields, he called for further development of Tehran-Dhaka relations in various areas.
