At least eight people have been martyred in a car bomb attack in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, officials have said.

At least eight people were martyred and another 21 wounded on Saturday when a car bomb exploded in Baghdad's Kadhimiya district, where thousands of Shi'ite pilgrims had gathered to mark a major religious festival, police said.

Shi'ite pilgrims were targeted on Wednesday in a wave of attacks in Baghdad and across Iraq that killed 90 Shia people in the worst single day of violence since U.S. troops left the country in December.
