Sign language is the best and easiest method for teaching Quran memorization to children for its phonological and gestural movements keep them motivated throughout the process of learning.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Zeinab Ali Ahmad Al-Javad, Iraqi Quran memorizer and former researcher in Al-Mustafa International University in Qom, said that the method can also help children take an interest in the Holy Book within a short period of time.

She went on to say that the amount of daily memorization varies in children depending on their capability and interest, and the time they require to complete the task would not be the same for all.

"The best way to keep the memorized verses in mind is to constantly review and recite them to others,” she added, referring to weekly recitation of the entire Quran and listening to recitations of eminent Quran reciters as other effective ways to retain them in memory.

"The amount of time spent on Quran memorization is not much effective in the quantity of memorization; one may manage to memorize the holy Book during an intensive, short-term course while others succeed in doing the task over a longer period.”

Elaborating on her own method to memorize the Holy Quran, she said: "I used to listen to the recitation of the verse once and then repeat it twice in quiet and loud voice. We were also required to memorize the number of the memorized verse and review the previous materials at the beginning of each session.”

"Quran memorizers ought to have full mastery over recitation and the rules of Tajweed before embarking on Quran memorization courses,” she noted.

Zeinab Ali Ahmad Al-Javad who currently lives in Sweden further said that she has not yet succeeded in establishing close relations with the Quranic centers in Sweden but has been informally organizing different Quranic courses on recitation, memorization, religious and Islamic teachings for kids, and recitation for women.

Zeinab Ali Ahmad Al-Javad is a graduate of the Islamic College of London and has a teaching certificate from Al-Mustafa International University in Qom. She also holds an official certificate of memorizing 20 Juzes of the Holy Book.
