(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Receiving the visiting Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, Imam Khamenei reiterated that the most important issue at the current critical juncture for the region is that independent nations make correct decisions.
During the meeting held in the holy city of Mashhad in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, Imam Khamenei urged Tehran and Ankara to deepen bilateral relations.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously determined to boost all-out ties with Turkey, the Supreme Leader said, adding that bilateral amicable ties would benefit both nations as well as the entire world of Islam.
Referring to great potentials existing in both countries which pave the way for further expansion of bilateral cooperation, Imam Khamenei reiterated that Iran is a rich source of oil and gas in the world.
Imam Khamenei condemned the instrumental approach of the bullying powers, the US in particular, towards the regional states and stressed that Washington does not recognize any independent nation.
Rejecting the West's approach towards world countries, Imam Khamenei emphasized that the interests of Islamic states should be taken into account in the decision-makings.
On Syrian developments, Imam Khamenei noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran defends Syria for backing the resistance front against the Zionist regime and opposes any foreign meddling in Damascus affairs.
Imam Khamenei also expressed Iran’s support for the reform process underway in Syria.
For his part, the Turkish premier said his country is determined to strengthen ties with Iran, particularly in the field of energy.
