(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Thousands of Shiite people rally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)'s Eastern Province to protest against the military intervention ordered by the ruling Saudi family in the neighboring Bahrain.
The rallies, which were held in the Qatif city and the village of Awamiyah on Wednesday, saw the attendants insisting on the cessation of the military presence.
The Saudi troops, together with forces from the United Arab Emirates, invaded Bahrain on March 14 to assist the Bahraini government in its quelling peaceful popular protests in the Persian Gulf island.
The protesters also renewed their call for an end to the Saudi regime's brutal crackdown on the Saudi dissidents.
Saudi forces in the ultraconservative kingdom, which is known for its intolerance of dissent, have been suppressing rallies against the ruling House of Saud since the beginning of 2011.
Meanwhile Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz al Saud has reportedly
ordered police chiefs through an official letter not to show any mercy
to anti-government protesters.
Nayef wrote the letter in March,
addressing police chiefs across Saudi Arabia, including those overseeing
the security forces in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
According
to the letter, Nayef ordered crackdown on protesters and gave a green
light to officers and troops to open fire on those demonstrating against
the government's restriction of the people's freedom.
The ultraconservative kingdom is known for its intolerance of dissent.
