(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast blasted the Zionist regime of Israel for destroying the Ma'man Allah Cemetery in the Holy Quds under the pretext of building a museum in there, and warned that the move is part of Israel's Judaization plot.
Mehman-Parast called on regional and international bodies, particularly the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), to take action to stop any activity aimed at changing the Islamic and Arabic face of the city and demolishing the al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Zionist regime has recently started a project to construct the Museum of Tolerance on the site of the Ma'man Allah cemetery, which dates from the 12th century.
The move has drawn criticism from international archaeologists who have called for an end to the construction of the museum.
The website of the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights said the 84 signatories, including Israeli and Palestinian academics and archeologists from the US and Europe, had signed a letter on October 20, demanding that construction of the Museum of Tolerance be stopped "immediately".
"The latest and most invasive encroachment on the cemetery to build the 'Museum of Tolerance' involved deep excavations that resulted in the disinterment of hundreds of human bones and other important antiquities in an unscientific and disrespectful manner," said the letter.
The Israeli move has also sparked anger among Palestinians who say that the Muslim cemetery needs to be treated with respect.
