(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to an Al-Aalam television report, huge protests took place in the northern Yemeni city of Sa'da on Saturday, with large numbers of protesters taking to the streets and calling for the downfall of Ali Abdullah Saleh's regime, and legal prosecution of Saleh and his close associates.
The demonstrators called on all Yemeni revolutionary groups to unite, and said the demands of the Yemeni people must be heeded.
Yesterday, Friday, millions of Yemenis shouted their support for the formation of a National Yemeni Council. A coalition of opposition groups in Yemen hopes the formation of a National Yemeni Council will speed up the collapse of dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh's regime.
The Yemeni people's uprising against Ali Abdullah Saleh's dictatorial rule started in January of this year, and the protesters are demanding Saleh's unconditional and immediate stepping down from power/office.
Ali Abdullah Saleh is currently in Saudi Arabia, where he is reportedly receiving medical treatment for injuries he sustained during a rocket attack on his presidential compound.
