The German weekly Der Spiegel has reported that Israel was behind the assassination of Iranian academic Dariush Rezaeinejad.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In an article published on Monday, Aug 1, entitled “Israel's Murderous Sabotage Strategy,” Der Spiegel wrote that the assassination was planned and implemented by Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad.

It added that the terrorist attack was the “first action” of new Mossad chief Tamir Pardo and noted that the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists is part of Israel's sabotage strategy to stop or delay Iran's nuclear program.

Asked if Tel Aviv was involved in the assassination of the Iranian scholar, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said, “Israel is not responding."

On July 23, unidentified gunmen killed Rezaienejad outside his house. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. On November 29, 2010, two other Iranian academics were targeted in terrorist attacks.
