East Hampshire, United Kingdom (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - FOR the first time in more than 100 years a Muslim speaker visited a Catholic school in Southsea to teach youngsters about his faith.

Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo was given a warm welcome by St John’s College where he gave 12 and 13-year-olds a presentation about Islam as well as a reading from the Koran.

Bryony Mengham, 12, said: ‘I thought it was good to hear from a practising Muslim.

‘I learned a lot more about the Muslim faith.

‘I didn’t realise that during fasting Muslims have to give up their bad habits – I thought fasting was just about giving up food.’

Jane Turner, head of religious studies, added: ‘As a Catholic school we study other faiths and the Imam was able to extend and deepen our understanding.’
