Makhachkala, Dagestan (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Two people, including the rector of the Theology Institute Maksud Sadikov, were killed as unidentified gunmen fired upon a car carrying them in Makhachkala on Tuesday, the Russian Investigative Committee department for Dagestan said based on updated reports.
"One of those killed in the attack on a car in Makhachkala has been identified as Maksud Sadikov, the head of the Theology Institute. In addition, his bodyguard, who is presumably his close relative, has also been killed," a department spokesperson told Interfax on Tuesday evening.
Two bodies have been discovered, and information that one more person was injured has yet to be verified, he said.
"All information is being verified. A team of investigators is working at the scene," he aid.
The Dagestani Interior Ministry said earlier three people, including the head of an Islamic university, had been killed in an armed attack on a car.
