(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - During Muharram, Shia Muslims remember the martyrdom of Hussein, grandson of Prophet Mohammad, who was martyred with family after standing up for human rights in 680 AD.
Group member Naseen Valji explained: “Muharram is a time for reflection, learning and development of human values. This year we decided that we wanted to raise money in memory of Hussain.”
He added: “It was felt appropriate to remember an organisation which stands to alleviate suffering of people and we were only too pleased to be able to provide our support.”
Giles Wright, Communications Manager for the Hospice said: “We are extremely thankful for the donations our local community provide and would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the Muslim Shia Ithna Asheri Jammaat of Essex Group for the amount that they have raised.”
