(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - weakening the position of Shia Muslims in Lebanon was the main purpose behind abducting Imam Musa Sadr, a Middle East expert said.

Mohammad Ali Mohtadi was addressing the 13th edition of the seminar titled “Depiction of Separation” on Wednesday, March 9. The seminar was held in Tehran on the occasion of the 12000th day since the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr.

Mr. Mohtadi said there are two views concerning the abduction of Imam Musa Sadr. One refers to his status and the role he was to play in the Islamic Revolution. “Everyone was aware of the strong relation between him and Imam Khomeini (RA). He wrote an article titles “Path of the Prophets” in which he regarded the Islamic Revolution humanity’s revolution and called on all people around the world to support it. Thus, depriving the Islamic Revolution from such a great figure is considered to be a reason behind his abduction.

“The second view states that Imam Musa Sadr created a movement in Lebanon which threatened the enemies. That is why they decided to deprive Lebanon of this influential figure.”

Adel Oun, representative of Lebanon’s Amal Movement was another speaker at the seminar who presented a report on terrosit crimes committed by Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

The “Depiction of Separation” seminar was organized by Imam Musa Sadr Cultural Research Institute with the cooperation of Tehran Municipality, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Interior Ministry, Lebanese Amal Movement and a number of other institutes.
