Baghdad (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Eight Arab Summit affirmed that they will attend the Arab Summit due to be held in Baghdad on March.
A statement issued on Thursday, Jan. 20, by the President’s Office said, “On the side oof the Arab Economic, development and Social Summit, held in Sharm al-Shiekh, Egypt, President Jalal Talabani met on Wednesday with Egypt’s President, Hosni Mubarak, Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Sudan’s President,Omer Hassan al-Basheer, Yemen’s President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the Emir of Qatar, Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa.”
It added, “In the meetings, the region’s situation was reviewed and the role expected of Baghdad Summit, as well as means to expand joint Arab work.”
In the meetings President Talabani extended an ivitation to them to attend Baghdad Summit, they all accepted it expressing their intention to attend it.”
They also touched on the relations between Iraq and their countries.
Talabani also received Syria’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Naji al-Otari, Palestine’s Prime Minister, Salam Fayyad, and Foreign Minister of Bahrain, Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad al-Khalifa.
The statement added, “In the meetings, bilateral relations, the on going preparations for the up coming Arab Summit are discussed; they all expressed their governments’ desire to participate in the Summit on highest level.”
