MANSEHRA, Pakistan (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An important meeting in this connection was held here which besides ulema from both sects was also attended among others by Commissioner Hazara Sahibzada Anis, DIG Dr Salman Khan, DCO Mansehra Dr Ambir and DPO Sohail Khalid.

Addressing the meeting the commissioner and DIG Hazara said that in the current spate of terrorism in the country particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa it was the high responsibility of the ulema and scholars of both sects to not only maintain brotherhood and peace in Muharram but also propagate it to the people.

The officials said to avert subversive activities in Mansehra and other parts of the Hazara heavy contingents of the Frontier Constabulary and police would be deployed at the Imambargahs and Ashura processions would also be provided with foolproof security.

They said ulema should extend support to the administration in ensuring peaceful passage of the Ashura processions. The religious leaders of both sects assured the administration of their full support to maintain peace and harmony in the region.

Ulema from Shia sect, however, demanded that the distance of the Ashura procession route in Mansehra should be extended. But those from Sunni sect opposed it and said that if the government wanted peace then it should maintain the shortest route of the mourning procession, which according to them, was agreed upon by ulema of both the sects in 1992.
