Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; Tehran's provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani supported President Ahmadinejad's call for the formation of a fact-finding committee on the September 11 attacks on the US.
."Why do you show reaction to the Iranian president's announcement that an independent group should probe into September 11 events? Iran's logic is that you should not have the first say, as community of human being and even the US people do not accept such claims," Ayatollah Emami Kashani said, addressing a large and fervent congregation of people on Tehran University campus on Friday.
"Nations welcome such a probe," Ayatollah Emami Kashani noted, and added, "But you lay off the blame by raising baseless allegations and you are responsible for aggression and massacre of innocent civilians in Afghanistan."
Ahmadinejad, in his address to the 65th UN General Assembly meeting in New York late in September, called on the world body to form an independent fact-finding group about the 9/11 attacks on the US.
"It is proposed that the United Nations set up an independent fact-finding group for the event of September 11 so that in the future expressing views about it is not forbidden," Ahmadinejad said at the session on Thursday evening.
The Iranian President reminded that the US administration took advantage of the suspicious September 11 attacks to justify its occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.
"It was said that some three thousands people were killed on September 11 for which we are all very saddened. Yet, up until now, in Afghanistan and Iraq hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, millions wounded and displaced and the conflict is still going on and expanding," the Iranian president added during his address.
