Ahlul Bayt News Agency, Rafaghah Ahmad Abu Mersah, a Palestinian elderly lady managed to memorize the entire Quran at the age of 74 while a lot of young people are deprived of such a blessed opportunity.
Rafaghah believes that she was given a strong will by God to achieve her goal which otherwise seemed impossible at her age.
“I started memorizing the Quran four years ago when the Dar-ol-Quran Mosque was launched in our neighborhood. Not intending to memorize the Quran at that time, I participated in an elementary course of Quran recitation held by the mosque,” Rafaghah explained.
She was unable to attend the next course due to her weak eyesight; but she decided not to let it be an obstacle in pursuing her goal.
“I asked one of the Quran memorization instructors in the mosque to observe the process of my memorization,” she said adding that she owes her success to her kind encouragements after God’s favor.
Speaking about Rafaghah’s method of memorization, her instructor said: “She started memorizing what was easier for her and could memorize the Suras of Al-Baqara and Al-e Imran. Depending on her mental capacity, we kept on working until she could successfully finish the course and surprise all.”
