Marseille's first Islamic college, named after Ibn Khaldun, the prominent Muslim historian and philosopher of the 14th century, is officially open soon.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency, France: Marseille's first Islamic college, named after Ibn Khaldun, the prominent Muslim historian and philosopher of the 14th century, is officially open soon.

According to the Moroccan website Yabiladi, in the upcoming academic year “Ibn Khaldun Islamic College”, which is a private institute, hosts some 40 Muslim students in 3 classrooms.
“At present, only freshmen are welcomed but the college is planning to annually add an upper level so that the students can graduate as knowledgeable scholars within four years,” dean of the college Mohsen Ngazou said.

He went on to say that Muslim girls do not have to observe Islamic veil but they are not banned from wearing hijab, for we sincerely respect Islamic beliefs.

The college was established in the southeast of France in response to the local Muslims need's and provides Islamic courses, history and Arabic language in addition to the official curriculum set by the French Ministry of Education

The cost of establishment has been provided by beneficent patrons but parents must pay fees to help the college go on.
