AhlulBayt News Agency: Hamas Movement on Saturday strongly condemned the arrest of Palestinian activist Mahmoud al-Adra, also known as Hisham Harb, by the security services of the Palestinian Authority.
In a statement, the movement described the act as a dangerous step linked to a French request for his extradition over charges dating back more than four decades.
The statement said the arrest sets a rejected precedent, noting that the case relates to events in 1982 during a period when the Palestine Liberation Organization was leading the national struggle.
It warned that cooperation with foreign parties on such cases undermines Palestinian unity and threatens national principles, holding the Palestinian Authority fully responsible for the detainee’s safety and the consequences of the move.
The statement also criticized the prosecution of an elderly activist with reported health issues, calling it a violation of humanitarian standards and accusing the international community of applying “double standards” regarding Palestinian detainees.
