The President of Turkey, emphasizing the necessity of reducing tensions, stated that Turkey continues and will even intensify its efforts to maintain the ceasefire and ensure lasting peace.
Erdoğan also stated that the ongoing developments and conflicts in the region have shown that the need to establish a new, coherent, and sustainably principled security architecture is felt more than ever. He added that Turkey will comprehensively examine and discuss this matter with regional countries. In this meeting, the three leaders also exchanged views on possible joint steps to achieve a lasting and inclusive peace in the region.
Erdoğan and Shehbaz Sharif discussed bilateral relations and ongoing ceasefire negotiations related to Iran, emphasizing increased diplomatic coordination.
The President of Turkey also praised Pakistan's role in securing the ceasefire and said that the two sides will cooperate to expand this ceasefire toward achieving a broader peace agreement.
According to a report by Yeni Şafak, the leaders met on the sidelines of the fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which continues until Sunday under the theme "Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties," with the participation of over 20 heads of state and government.
