AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On the forty-fifth day of Israel's war against Lebanon, amid all the developments, only one constant reality is seen on the scene: the continued mismanagement of the Lebanese displacement file and the deepening of the humanitarian crisis of over one million displaced people.
According to a report by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, while excuses could be made for officials in the first ten days due to the pressure of such a humanitarian crisis, one and a half months is undoubtedly sufficient time to conclude that the Lebanese officials in charge of this file—at the head of them Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Minister of Social Affairs Hanin Al-Sayyid, Sahar Baasiri (the wife of Nawaf Salam) who was illegally appointed as head of the food section, and all the apparatuses affiliated with the Lebanese presidency involved in relief efforts—have either failed in managing this file or fundamentally do not wish to provide services beyond the meager aid currently reaching only 14 percent of the displaced.
A simple analysis of the official figures published in the daily reports of the Crisis Management Unit, which is directly responsible for implementing the response plan, shows the severe weakness of the services provided by the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs (whose resources come from foreign donors, not the Lebanese government) to the displaced residing in shelter centers.
According to the latest update, the number of displaced persons in shelter centers has reached 141,383. If the number of ready-to-eat food packages (101,773 packages) and the number of hot and cold meals (4,955,940 meals) distributed since the beginning of the aggression are divided by the number of displaced persons, it becomes clear that each person has received less than one meal per day.
Regarding drinking water, the distribution of 2,574,437 liters of water to date shows that each person has received only about 18 liters over 45 days, i.e., nearly half a liter per day.
The situation regarding items needed for children is similar. Only 7,734 packages have been distributed among 5,500 children aged one to five years, meaning each child has received about one and a half packages during the entire period of displacement.
