Something Is Wrong with Trump! The Independent Brings in Mental Health Experts

According to The Independent, psychiatrists and analysts have assessed the U.S. president's tone and behavior as indicative of instability and severe emotional reactions.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The prominent American news outlet The Independent, in a report by Rhian Lubin, wrote that a new wave of Donald Trump's "vulgar and out-of-control" remarks has raised concerns about his mental health to the highest level and intensified the debate about his fitness for the presidency.

According to the report, on Easter morning, Trump posted an angry message on Truth Social addressed to Iranians, saying, "Open that damn strait, you lunatics, or you'll be living in hell." Critics described this message as "completely out of control" and a factor in reigniting the debate over his mental health.

Less than 48 hours later, calls for invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows the Vice President and Cabinet to declare the president unfit, increased. These calls came after Trump threatened that "an entire civilization will die tonight and will never return."

The report adds that concerns about Trump's mental state, which had been raised previously, have sharply intensified amid the war with Iran. Dr. Geoff Grammer, a psychiatrist and retired U.S. Army colonel, told the outlet, "One of the things we have to consider is that he's more and more drawn into his natural state—who he inherently is, fed by the sycophants around him, and he's almost reached this delusional level of narcissism."

Geoff Grammer, who identifies himself as "anti-MAGA," is among the experts who have warned about Trump's "erratic" behavior. He also suggested that these behaviors could stem from feeling trapped, narcissistic rage, or diminished behavioral inhibition, though he emphasized that no definitive diagnosis can be made without a direct evaluation.

The report further stated that in recent days, Trump verbally attacked Pope Leo and, after posting an AI-generated image depicting him as Jesus, was forced to delete it. He later claimed he thought the image showed him as a "doctor", a claim that drew negative reactions even from some right-wing Christian figures.

The Independent also noted Trump's frequent use of vulgar language, including remarks about the Iran-Israel conflict and Nicolás Maduro.

Sherry Boutwell, a trauma therapist, told the outlet that Trump's use of threats and vulgar language could indicate "narcissistic traits." She added that these behaviors may reflect severe emotional reactions, anxiety, fear, or frustration.

Boutwell also described the threat to destroy a civilization as a form of "projection to maintain power and control" and said Trump's tone could indicate a "need for validation and attention." According to her, the lack of empathy in these remarks is "concerning" and may suggest that he is indifferent to the suffering of others.

On the political front, some Democrats have called for invoking the 25th Amendment. Jamie Raskin called for an immediate cognitive assessment, stating that Trump has shown "signs consistent with dementia." Additionally, Congresswoman Yassamin Crockett, in a letter to Vice President J.D. Vance, described Trump as "disturbed, possibly suffering from dementia" and emphasized that he has brought the United States to the brink of one of the greatest war crimes of the modern era.

Furthermore, Paul Fritch, a former U.S. diplomat, said Trump's "extreme" tone may be a sign of his frustration in the Iran crisis, a crisis that, according to him, Trump is unable to end unilaterally.
