ABNA24 - The president of the Centre for Pakistan and Persian Gulf Studies or CPGS has hailed martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for ensuring the strength and resilience of the Islamic establishment in Iran.
In an interview with IRNA in Islamabad on Thursday, Nasir Abbas Shirazi described late Ayatollah Khamenei as a symbol of resistance against global arrogance, noting that his martyrdom was a profound and irreparable loss for the entire Islamic world.
Stating that Ayatollah Khamenei’s role stretches beyond his status as a religious scholar, Shirazi said the Iran's Leader always strived for promoting unity among Muslims and espect for the beliefs of different sects.
He further stated that the Muslim world had lost a strategist who supported freedom and independence for the oppressed nations.
According to Shirazi, the resilience attributed to Ayatollah Khamenei and the leadership helped consolidate the position of the Islamic Republic in the region, both politically and militarily, which is obvious despite pressures and challenges from Western and allied powers.
Referring to the recent joint US-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic, he said Iran’s response to aggressors reflected the strategic thinking of the country's leadership and the continuation of policies associated with the axis of resistance.
Iran is currently marking the 40th day since the launch of an unprovoked US-Israeli war that resulted in the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, several top military commanders and hundreds of civilians, including school children on February 28.
In response, Iran launched precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and US military bases in the region, citing its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
A ceasefire mediated by Pakistan and hailed by world countries was announced on Wednesday but hours later, the Israeli regime breached the agreed points by launching more deadly strikes on Iran and Lebanon and spilling the blood of hundreds more civilians there.
