AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Following the martyrdom of hundreds of Lebanese civilians in attacks carried out by the Zionist regime yesterday on residential areas in Beirut, the southern suburbs, Sidon, and Beqaa, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared today a day of public mourning in the country. He announced the closure of government offices, public institutions, and municipalities, and the flying of the Lebanese flag at half-mast atop the buildings of these institutions.
Nawaf Salam also offered sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs of Wednesday's attacks and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.
According to a report by Al-Nashra website, the Lebanese Ministry of Health, in a secondary report on the casualty figures from the Zionist regime's attacks, announced the martyrdom of 182 additional people and the injury of 890 others. Thus, the number of martyrs from the recent Zionist regime attacks, which may still increase, has reached over 250, and the number of wounded has reached 1,150.
In total, the number of Lebanese martyrs in the attacks that began on March 2 has reached 1,739, and the number of wounded has reached 5,873.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) condemned in a statement the Zionist regime's airstrikes on densely populated residential areas in Lebanon, announcing that heavy explosive weapons with widespread destructive effects were used against densely populated residential areas of Beirut without any prior warning.
The ICRC further emphasized that any comprehensive agreement in the region must include the protection of the lives of Lebanese civilians.
Egypt's Al-Azhar also strongly condemned in a statement the killing of Lebanese civilians by the Zionist regime, describing these brutal crimes as a clear violation of UN charters and all international laws.
Al-Azhar emphasized in its statement, "The occupying regime's attack on civilians demonstrates its perpetual desire for war and bloodshed and its ongoing approach to starting wars and creating chaos."
Al-Azhar, stressing that the absence of deterrent international and legal prosecution has encouraged the occupying regime to continue its crimes and that it has now become a threat to the security and stability of the region, called for immediate action by the international community to stop these crimes and fulfill legal and moral responsibilities to protect the lives of civilians and preserve Lebanon's unity, stability, and sovereignty.
