ABNA24 - The National Day of Quranic Schools was held in Dakar with the participation of officials and Quran teachers.

This event marks a turning point in a national initiative launched in November 2024 to strengthen the status of Quranic schools within Senegal’s education system. Over the course of a year, consultations were held with more than 28,000 people across 557 municipalities. The final session took place on March 29–30 in Dakar, attended by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education.

Key recommendations include establishing a legal framework to formally recognize Quranic schools, convening a presidential council, and forming a national committee for the gradual integration of these schools into the formal education system.

President Faye described Quran teachers as "builders of knowledge and values" and emphasized that the modernization of Quranic schools is a step toward balancing religious and modern education. The ceremony concluded with honors for activists in this field.
