Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that Iran’s preventing the passage of vessels associated with the aggressors is in accordance with international law and is being done to maintain security in the Strait of Hormuz and to prevent the continuation of military aggression against Iran.
Araghchi made the remarks in a phone conversation with his Filipino counterpart, Maria Teresa Lazaro, on Thursday.
He said the illegal attack by the US and the Israeli regime on Iran is the main cause of the existing insecurity in the region and the Strait of Hormuz.
For her part, Lazaro expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and a group of Iranian officials and people during the war by the US and the Israeli criminal regimes.
She also wished for a swift end to the war and the return of lasting peace and stability to the region.
Appreciating her for expressions of sympathy from the government and people of the Philippines, Araghchi described the crimes committed by the US and the Israeli terrorist regimes during their 34-day military aggression against Iran.
He also said that with a responsible approach and despite the insecurity imposed on the region and the Strait of Hormuz by the two aggressors, Iran has provided the necessary facilities for the safe passage of non-hostile vessels and ships, through coordination with the competent Iranian authorities.
