ABNA24 - Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warns that ordinary Americans must blame Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies in Congress for imposing what could become a trillion-dollar “Israel First tax” on the US economy as a result of the ongoing aggression against Iran.
Araghchi made the remarks in a post on his X account Thursday after The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon has requested more than $200 billion in additional budget for war against Iran.
The foreign minister said that the figure was “the tip of the iceberg” as the war is expected to be a prolonged conflict. “We’re only three weeks into this war of choice, imposed on both Iranians and Americans,” he said.
“This $200b is the tip of the iceberg. Ordinary Americans can thank Benjamin Netanyahu and his lackeys in Congress for the trillion-dollar ‘First Israel tax’ that is about to hit US economy,” he warned.
The Washington Post said that the Pentagon has made the request for additional budget to ramp up the production of weapons that have been destroyed or depleted during the war, including Tomahawk missiles, Patriot systems, and THAAD interceptors.
