Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not targeting neighboring countries, following reports of drone strikes on Nakhchivan International Airport.
In an interview with AnewZ TV on Thursday, Gharibabadi stressed that Iran does not target its neighbors and the reported attack on Nakhchivan International Airport must be investigated.
He added that only the countries, which host enemy military bases, will be targeted.
Two civilians were reportedly injured after drones struck Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on Thursday, the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It said one drone struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another landed near a school in the village of Shakarabad.
Iran has carried out missile and drone attacks on targets in Israel and US regional bases in response to the ongoing military aggression by the two regimes against the country. The aggression, which began on February 28, has seen attacks on civilian sites across Iran, including hospitals and schools.
