AhlulBayt News Agency: A Lebanese lawmaker has warned that any U.S. naval threats against Iran would be met with the Islamic Republic’s powerful missile capabilities, asserting that Tehran possesses the means to send American warships to the bottom of the sea.
Hassan Ezzeddine, a member of Lebanon’s parliament, commented on the ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, saying Iran entered the negotiations “with faith in God and from a position of strength,” emphasizing that its stance is “fully powerful, not weak.”
He acknowledged the strength of the United States and its allies but stressed that Iran came to the negotiating table relying on its real capabilities and its ability to confront Washington if necessary.
Ezzeddine said that if U.S. President Donald Trump and his partners believed Iran would surrender or accept imposed conditions, “such a thing will never happen,” adding that Iran will not abandon its rights, national interests, or security.
He noted that the negotiations are limited to the nuclear issue and that a solution is possible only if based on equality and respect for Iran’s rights.
The MP warned that if diplomacy fails and the opposing side resorts to military action, it must remember that not all of Iran’s capabilities are known to U.S. intelligence or global surveillance systems, saying Iran possesses “surprising tools and capabilities” for confronting America.
Referring to the position of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Ezzeddine said Iran’s response to any new American aggression lies in having “a missile capable of sinking U.S. warships,” describing this as the strategic equation guiding Iran’s behavior.
Earlier this week, Ayatollah Khamenei responded to repeated U.S. threats following Washington’s deployment of additional forces to the region, saying that even the world’s strongest military “can be struck so hard that it cannot rise again,” and that while aircraft carriers are dangerous, “the weapon that can sink them is far more dangerous.”
