AhlulBayt News Agency: Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has warned that the European Union will face consequences over its move against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to IRNA, in a post published Friday on his X account, Larijani referred to a resolution passed by Iran’s Parliament stating that the armed forces of countries backing the recent EU measure against the IRGC are regarded as terrorist organizations under Iranian law. He said the bloc’s action would bring repercussions for the EU.
His remarks came after a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, where the bloc moved to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Iranian officials and lawmakers have described the decision as politically driven, unlawful, and lacking legal basis.
Critics of the move argue that the designation was rushed and did not follow the EU’s stated legal framework, which requires a prior court ruling within a member state before such listings. They also claim the decision was taken under political pressure and without sufficient consideration of its broader consequences.
