AhlulBayt News Agency: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has asserted that the Iranian nation stands firm against armed terrorists, but legitimate public protests will be seriously reviewed by the country’s authorities.
Speaking at an open session of Parliament on Sunday, Ghalibaf said he had decided to depart from his usual formal address to speak directly to the public and lawmakers.
“I think that these days, with the presence of the people, one of the most important Days of God of our country is taking shape by God’s will and power,” he said.
He underscored the need for vigilance at a highly sensitive time, calling for a precise understanding of enemy plots.
Ghalibaf said Iran is currently engaged on four fronts against “the US and Zionist enemy”, which he listed as “economic war, cognitive war, military war, and terrorist war.”
“Today the Iranian nation is standing firmly against armed terrorists. The course of the nation’s success in these days will reach its peak,” he said.
He added that while authorities would “seriously examine the rightful protests of the people,” they would stand resolutely against terrorists seeking to exploit unrest.
Ghalibaf also said what is certain is that in the 12-day US-Israeli war on Iran back in June, “the enemy was defeated and accepted defeat and sought a ceasefire.”
He said this outcome was achieved “by the grace of God and the efforts of the people and the hard core of 90 million people” who, he said, stood with full strength against military aggression.
This, he added, was a sign of the Iranian nation’s “historical awareness, sense of responsibility and magnanimity,” stressing that officials must bow in respect to the people “who rubbed the enemy’s nose in the dirt in the war.”
He went on to say that the enemy did not stop there and instead moved to an internal terrorist war against the nation.
According to Ghalibaf, the enemy had planned in advance to replicate military success inside the country, but after its defeat, the plan failed and was launched later by exploiting the people’s legitimate demands.
He said the operation entered a “terrorist war phase,” aimed at creating casualties, describing it as “Daesh-like.”
The parliament speaker warned that those who are “openly foreign mercenaries” and betray their country to please the US president had turned into “Daesh-like criminals.”
He said authorities would deal with them “in the harshest manner,” adding that those arrested would be punished and armed individuals confronted forcefully.
Ghalibaf stressed that the nation and the armed forces remain vigilant, reiterating such crimes recall those of Daesh, which US president Donald Trump had said was created by the US.
He also addressed the “delusional” US president, warning against miscalculations and saying any attack on Iran would make “both the occupied territories and all US military centers, bases and ships in the region” legitimate targets.
