IOF kills two Palestinians in Salem raid, holds martyr’s body

Israeli forces killed two Palestinians, including Wissam Ishtayeh, during a raid on the village of Salem. The West Bank escalation mirrors broader Israeli military actions, including the ongoing war in Gaza.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian Health Ministry reported Sunday evening that the General Authority for Civil Affairs had confirmed the martyrdom of 37-year-old Wissam Ghassan Hassan Ishtayeh, who was fatally shot by Israeli forces in the village of Salem, east of Nablus.

The ministry added that Ishtayeh’s body is still being held by the Israeli military.

Earlier in the day, Israeli troops stormed Salem, surrounding two homes on the village’s eastern edge while firing heavy live ammunition.

During the raid, two Palestinians were shot. Qusai Nasser Mahmoud Nassar, 23, died instantly and his body was transferred to Rafidia Governmental Hospital. Wissam Ishtayeh, wounded and arrested during the operation, was later confirmed dead.

A 62-year-old man also sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital by Palestinian Red Crescent teams.

The growing wave of Israeli military raids and settler attacks across the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem—alongside the Gaza war—has resulted in nearly 1,000 Palestinians killed, around 7,000 injured, and over 18,000 arrested, according to official sources.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces—supported by the U.S.—have carried out a devastating war in Gaza, marked by mass killings, starvation, mass displacement, and destruction, despite repeated international pleas to stop.

This campaign has led to over 193,000 Palestinians either killed or injured—most of them women and children—with more than 10,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine claiming the lives of many, including dozens of children.
