Al-Quds Brigades says 40 Israeli casualties in Shuja'iyyah raid

The Islamic Jihad’s armed wing reported a large-scale ambush in Shuja'iyyah, Gaza, claiming they killed or wounded 40 Israeli troops.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad has stated that it killed or wounded at least 40 Israeli troops in a complex ambush against various military units in northern Gaza.

On Friday, a commander from the al-Quds Brigades made this statement, which was shared by several pro-resistance news outlets.

The commander revealed that the attack took place in the Shuja'iyyah neighborhood of Gaza City.

He applauded the operation for being precisely planned to suit the terrain, claiming that fighters managed to take control of Israeli movements and their advancing vehicles.

As part of the ambush, fighters targeted a building where about 10 Israeli soldiers had taken shelter, striking it with a guided missile.

Additionally, around 20 more Israeli troops were hit in another building with a thermobaric grenade, a device that disperses explosive gas or powder.

The operation also involved the detonation of a minefield containing six anti-armor explosives, aimed at Israeli vehicles.

The commander claimed Israeli forces were unable to respond and instead chose to flee, shouting and panicking during the ambush.

He added that the scene was filled with burned remains of Israeli troops scattered around the area.

Still, the commander accused the Israeli side of hiding the real losses and lying about the number of casualties.

The Israeli military, on its part, has only confirmed two fatalities and eight injuries among its personnel following the ambush.

This operation was part of Palestinian fighters’ continued resistance in the face of Israel’s military assault, which began in October 2023.

That assault was launched after fighters from Gaza infiltrated deep into Israeli-occupied areas, surrounding military bases and capturing hundreds of settlers.
