Sanaa FM receives WFP letter on restarting food aid

Sanaa's foreign minister met with WFP officials to discuss restarting food aid operations. The WFP plans to relaunch projects in Yemen after months of suspension due to funding cuts.

AhlulBayt News Agency: On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa, Jamal Amer, received an official letter from the World Food Programme (WFP) regarding preparations to resume the second phase of emergency food aid distribution. The distribution had been suspended in recent months.

The message was delivered during a meeting between Minister Amer and Pai Thapa, the WFP’s Acting Resident Representative. During their discussions, Amer emphasized that reactivating WFP’s operations in Sanaa should serve as a meaningful step toward building trust between the government and the organization, paving the way for further tangible progress.

Pai Thapa noted that the WFP’s High-Level Envoy to Yemen—backed by leadership in Rome—is actively engaging with international donors to restore funding levels and scale up aid programs in Sanaa, which had previously shrunk due to financial limitations
