AhlulBayt News Agency: The Hamas Movement issued a strong condemnation following the entry of dozens of Israeli settlers into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police forces.
Hamas described the settlers’ performance of Talmudic rituals inside the Mosque after worshippers were removed as a provocative escalation and a violation of the sacred status of the site, calling it a calculated move to enforce Zionist dominance.
In a statement released Sunday evening, Hamas urged Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and 1948-occupied territories to gather at the Mosque, stay steadfast, and defend it from what it called Israeli efforts to Judaize it.
The group also called on Arab and Islamic countries to take concrete steps to safeguard the identity and sanctity of Islam’s first Qibla, Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Earlier in the day, dozens of settlers entered the Mosque compound through the Magharibeh Gate under Israeli police protection and carried out religious rituals in the eastern section of the Mosque.
During the incident, Israeli police restricted Muslim access to the Mosque compound in order to secure the area for the settlers’ entry.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have tightened control over Jerusalem, establishing numerous checkpoints and barring West Bank Palestinians from reaching the city and the Mosque for worship.
