Israel orders mass evacuation from Gaza city and Jabalia

Israel has issued new evacuation orders for northern Gaza, affecting major districts of Gaza City and Jabalia.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli military has issued new mass evacuation orders, demanding that residents of large sections of Gaza City and northern Gaza leave their homes immediately.

In a statement released Sunday, an Israeli army spokesperson instructed residents of at least 17 neighborhoods to evacuate south to the al-Mawasi area or face deadly consequences.

The evacuation order includes Jabalia and most districts of Gaza City, such as eastern Zeitoun, the Old City, Tuffah, Daraj, Sabra, Jabalia al-Balad, and Tel al-Zaatar.

Text messages sent by the Israeli military urged residents to move toward al-Mawasi in Khan Yunis, which Israel has labeled a “humanitarian zone.”

However, Israeli forces have previously bombed the al-Mawasi area even after issuing evacuation orders directing civilians there.

The military declared these neighborhoods “active combat zones” and warned civilians not to return, threatening severe consequences.

Palestinian and UN officials maintain that no place in Gaza is truly safe under current conditions.

Since October 2023, when Israel began its assault on Gaza, approximately 90% of the population has been displaced at least once.

Human rights organizations and Palestinian authorities have condemned the evacuation orders as collective punishment and part of a broader campaign of ethnic cleansing.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to take control of Gaza and forcibly remove its Palestinian population.

Legal experts argue that Trump’s proposal violates international law and constitutes ethnic cleansing.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military campaign continues, with nearly 90 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours alone.

Over the past month, hundreds of Palestinians have died near food distribution points. The UN reports that more than 550 people have been killed while trying to access aid under the current U.S.-Israeli distribution system.

More than 56,500 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza. Thousands more are believed to be trapped under rubble, unreachable due to ongoing bombardment.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former war minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the besieged Palestinian territory.
