AhlulBayt News Agency: The United Nations has warned that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached its most catastrophic level since the start of Israeli military operations, with ongoing airstrikes, mass displacement, and severe restrictions on aid.
Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric stated in a press conference on Friday that the situation in Gaza is the worst it has been since Israel launched its military assault in October 2023.
Dujarric reported that Israeli strikes have intensified across the coastal enclave, particularly in northern Gaza, where Al-Awda Hospital—the last partially functioning hospital in the area—was forced to evacuate following repeated attacks.
“Displacement continues across Gaza, with nearly 200,000 people forced to flee in the last two weeks alone,” Dujarric said, adding that Israel’s renewed displacement campaign now affects 30 percent of Gaza’s territory.
Many civilians are moving not because of official displacement orders but due to the desperate search for food and essential supplies, according to Dujarric.
The spokesman emphasized that the need for humanitarian aid has reached unprecedented levels, following more than 80 days of near-total Israeli blockade on aid deliveries.
He added that the limited aid currently allowed into Gaza is woefully insufficient to support the 2.1 million people in urgent need of life-saving assistance.
