AlShabbir Hassan Meesami, the Central Secretary General of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, while addressing the "Protection of Azadari and National Defense Conference," stated that the safeguarding of Azadari (mourning rituals for Imam Hussain) is directly linked to the strength of national defense.
He emphasized that Youm-e-Takbeer (the day Pakistan became a nuclear power) is a symbol of national pride and a great blessing from Allah, marking Pakistan's emergence as a nuclear state. Today, the entire nation stands united against enemies, from the army chief to the common soldier, and the public offers prayers for all of them.
He affirmed, “We will not allow any harm to come to our beloved homeland, but at the same time, we will not tolerate any negligence or compromise when it comes to Azadari. Any attempts to restrict Azadari will not be accepted under any circumstances.”
He expressed hope that the provincial governments will continue their cooperation in this regard, as they have in the past. Referring to the issues surrounding processions in Dadu Division, he warned that if these issues are not resolved peacefully, then mourners will hold a sit-in at the location of the procession, and will not leave until the matter of the procession route is settled. He further stated that mourners from all across Sindh will be called to gather if necessary.
