AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Hamas official has announced that the Palestinian resistance movement has accepted a ceasefire proposal presented by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, placing the next step in Israel’s hands.
Basem Naim, a high-ranking member of Hamas, told Al Mayadeen television on Tuesday that the group had agreed to Witkoff’s plan, which outlines a cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of enemy forces, and the groundwork for a lasting ceasefire.
“The essence of Witkoff’s proposal includes an end to aggression, a pullback of occupying forces, and the foundation for a permanent truce,” Naim stated.
According to IRNA, he reiterated that Hamas is now waiting for Israel’s response, making it clear that the next move in the negotiations depends on Tel Aviv’s willingness to engage.
The acceptance of the proposal signals a potential shift in the ongoing conflict, but the path to a final resolution remains uncertain as Israel has yet to formally respond.
