AhlulBayt News Agency: The Government Media Office (GMO) stated that the Israeli occupation army has imposed control over 77 percent of the Gaza Strip through ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and systematic genocide.
In a statement on Sunday, GMO said the Israeli army is, in effect, in control of 77 percent of the Gaza Strip, either through ground forces, evacuation orders, and intensive gunfire and bombardment that keep residents away from their homes.
“This pattern of coercive control, which is based on the use of brute force to forcibly empty the land of its indigenous inhabitants, constitutes a blatant violation of the international humanitarian law, particularly the four Geneva Conventions of 1949. It represents a systematic breach of the principles of public international law and international justice, including Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the forced transfer or mass displacement of civilian populations in occupied territories, as well as Article 7 of the Rome Statute, which criminalizes forced displacement as a crime against humanity, and the 1907 Hague Convention, which criminalizes altering the character of occupied land without clear military justification,” GMO explained.
GMO strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces for continuing to carry out plans of mass displacement, ethnic cleansing, systematic genocide, and forcible settler colonialism under the cover of siege and open warfare that targets both people and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
GMO held the Israeli occupation regime and the countries helping it in its genocide, especially the US, Britain, Germany and France, legally responsible for all the war crimes happening in Gaza.
GMO warned of “the implications of the continued Israeli control over the vast majority of the Gaza Strip’s territory, which amounts to an attempt to impose a colonial fait accompli on the ground and forcibly reshape the demographic landscape.”
GMO called upon the UN, the Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and special rapporteurs to promptly fulfill their legal and humanitarian obligations by taking decisive action to stop Israel’s war crimes in Gaza, launch independent and urgent international investigations, and ensure the prosecution of Israeli war criminals in international courts.
